Written by Richard Wilson

Also known as accumulated depreciation, this refers to the devaluation of property over a certain period. Some of the main reasons for accrued depreciation are wear and tear and obsolescence. It can be calculated by multiplying the yearly depreciation by the number of years the property has been owned or by subtracting the original value of the property from its current book value.
